2020 Census! It’s Our future. Don’t leave it blank!

    August 16, 2020 /

Don’t forget to complete the 2020 Census!  The Census will end by September 30, 2020.  You can complete your form by mail, phone, or web.  Click here for instructions: https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html Census data informs decisions about federal, state, and local funding for infrastructure, education, health care and beyond.  For rural areas, the Census shapes things like rural water and waste disposal systems, state wildlife grants, and hunter education and safety.  An incomplete count means the possibility of lost funds for these important resources.  Complete your 2020 Census today!

Earth Day 2020–50 Years of Celebrating the Planet

    March 31, 2020 /

Menard County Trails & Greenways plans to honor the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, albeit a little differently than we had planned. While we won’t be able to physically gather as friends and neighbors to help clean up Menard County, we can come together in the same spirit, do some good work around (or even inside!) our homes, and share our efforts virtually. We’ve started a list…

Thank you Springfield Area Arts Council for helping us bring our Ways to Discovery Chautauqua series to life! Join us in August for the next event at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site! It's #RegionalArtsPartnerWednesday eve! 🥳🎨Grantee Spotlight: Menard County Trails & GreenwaysEstablished in 1999, the volunteer-run non-profit Menard County Trails & Greenways preserves natural and cultural resources through nature-connective exploration and conservation, combining trail and greenway maintenance and enjoyment with arts access for rural Central Illinois communities. Continuing a project begun in 2024, the non-profit has organized a four-part Chautauqua inspired event series for 2025, titled Ways to Discovery, that explores "the many paths through which we understand and navigate the world". This event series takes place on first Sundays of August through October at the Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site visitor center auditorium in Petersburg from 1-3pm, and combines educational lectures with performances by Illinois-based artists. 🎭 Springfield Area Arts Council is proud to support Menard County Trails & through the Regional Arts Partner re-granting program, made possible in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
